What is "The Ides of March?"  The ides of March (Latin: Idus
Martias) is the name of March 15 in the Roman calendar. The
term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March,
May, July, and October. The Ides of March was a festive day
dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually
held. In modern times, the term Ides of March is best known
as the date that Julius Caesar was assassinated in 709 AUC
or 44 B.C. In William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar,
Caesar is warned to "beware the Ides of March."

Saint Patrick's Day, colloquially St. Paddy's Day or simply
Paddy's Day, is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint
Patrick (circa AD 385–461), the most commonly recognised of
the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on
17th of March.
The day is a national holiday of Ireland: it is a bank holiday in
Northern Ireland and a public holiday in the Republic of
Ireland. It is also a public holiday in Montserrat. In Canada,
United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Argentina and
New Zealand, it is widely celebrated but is not an official
holiday
