Name Our Coyote Contest
As you can see, our coyote has made
friends with several of our guests.
He gets around the house and
apparently likes to pose for the
camera.  If you've stayed here
before, perhaps you've heard the
story of..."How our Gray Wolf
turned out to be a Brown (Red?)
Coyote".

grandson Jalen.

So, about another 4 - 6 weeks went by and I got the call that my order
had arrived.  When I saw the critter I was pretty speechless.  So much
so that I never said a word and just took our mascot and went home.

Now I know it's too late to make a long story short, but here's the end
of the tale...

I had only viewed the animal for a few minutes and that had been a couple
of months earlier so I'm not exactly sure WHAT it looked like; but, I
know it was GRAY and I know the difference between a wolf and a
coyote.  Thus, the name Gray Wolf Mountain Inn.
For the benefit of those that have not heard the tale, this is how it
happened.

I like to go into town (that's Murphy) every now and then and just
Hollow.  This is a high-end cabin furnishings store and mostly out of I
like to go into town (that's Murphy) every now and then and just look
around at things.  One of the shops I enjoy visiting is Moose Hollow.
This is a high-end cabin furnishings store and mostly out of my price
range.  While browsing I came across a stuffed animal (not this
coyote).  I really liked it, checked the price and looked at it for a
few minutes. Then I moseyed on to continue my browse.  I kept
thinking about the critter and went back to see it one more time
before leaving the store.

When I got home, I told Gil (that's my husband and your other host)
about it.  It was pretty much out of our price range for just about
anything; but somehow, about 4 or 5 weeks later, we decided to buy
it.  Well, wouldn't you know they had just sold it that week!???
But....the saleslady said they could order me another one.  I was so
glad I never stopped to realize this was a real animal and another
one would be different.
I never even told her what I wanted, like color of eyes, fur, etc.
Kaliska (Kali for short), our friendly mascot.  Jalen
who is ten years old chose this Native American Miwok
name, which simply means "coyote".
